Gleny Rae Virus used to be the best known virus in town! Despite the pandemic, she is still spreading laughter, singing songs about hidden places and resilient people, infecting feet with a two-step twitch every time she graces the stage.
A country girl with an international heart, Gleny Rae Virus believes music can inspire and change lives. "Music is a two way street, equally important to the performer AND the listener," according to GRV. “We learn so much through music, and I spend most of my time as a music teacher learning from my students!”

A passionate educator, Gleny Rae Virus left the east coast in January 2021 to teach music in Alice Springs and fulfill a calling to work on community with indigenous children. One year into her Mparntwe (Alice Springs) teaching role, GRV can be found conducting choirs in Tennant Creek, Yuendemu and Ampilatwatja. She relishes the opportunity to work on country with First Nations people and the incredibly passionate educators there. “I was raised on Wuradjuri country, near Nyngan NSW, where I did school by correspondence and had very limited musical interactions. I wanted to give kids in remote areas the opportunity to learn and experience music at a young age, to empower them with music.”
Living in the Red Centre has not quelled her desire to create music, tell stories and collaborate with other musicians. Gleny Rae Virus has a new single ready to drop in 2022, and a number of projects on the boil. The new song “Ribcage” is a soul country flavoured ballad delving into childhood dreams and their inevitable dilution by the responsibility of adulthood. The music video is a breathtaking collection of central desert scenery featuring a talented local school girl - Savannah Lorimer - who plays a “young” Gleny Rae.

Wherever she shows up, Gleny Rae Virus is sure to bring laughter and lively music to the stage, whether it’s in Tamworth or Trundle, Alice Springs or Adelaide!
