Elwood Myre is a fervid collaboration between troubadour Elwood and Multi-instrumentalist Hunter Beasley. After discovering their lifeblood in Songs the pair have been working endlessly on developing a sound unique unto itself and awash with golden tones of nostalgia. Chiming with roots in the late 60s & 70s and a firm nod to their modern contemporaries, Elwood Myre have planted their feet firmly on a timeless plane.
From humble beginnings as an acoustic duo, endowed with a sound smooth and warm like bubble gum, the pair stumbled into Vienna People Recording Studios where they tracked their debut album live in 4 days. After the warm reception of their bold debut full-length release in 2015 and receiving torrents of radio play nation-wide (includ ing Triple J), the pair embarked on a series of national tours where they fell in love with a nomadic existence and people across the country fell in love with their resonant energy. After sharing the stage with count less national and international acts the pair caught the eye on industry legend Brian Taranto enlisting the pair the open for Willie Watson (Old Crow Medicine Show) to a sold-out Sydney audience. After some late night experimentation and the pair’s inclusion on festival lineups such as Dashville Skyline (Holy Holy, Bahamas, Wagons) and Mountain Sounds (Violent Soho, The Delta Riggs) Elwood Myre expanded their live lineup to a 5-piece band giving their set an undeniably intoxicating dynamic. These performances were evocative moments for the duo and largely influenced the development of their galvanising new electric sound, finding comfort anywhere from small bars to festival main stages. With moments of rapturous abandon and haunting emotion Elwood Myre have arrived as a formidable Australian act. The pair is currently working with Legendary Producer Wayne Connolly (Boy & Bear, Josh Pyke, You Am I) on their anticipated sopho more release due early 2017.
